Want to Read Reviews of the Levoit Core 300 and Core P350?

I have reviewed these two air purifiers elsewhere on this air purifier reviews site. For that reason, I won’t be repeating myself here. Instead, I’ll do what I consider sensible at the moment, that is, really focus on the similarities and differences to make your shopping journey a little easier and more enjoyable.

Here is a detailed Levoit Core 300 review, and here a Levoit Core P350 review. But you don’t really need to read them before diving into this Levoit Core 300 vs Levoit core P350 comparison.

Let’s jump right in and see how the Levoit Core 300 stacks up against the Levoit Core P350.

Design

Both air purifiers are available in a nice-looking cylindrical design. Most Levoit air purifiers have a cylindrical shape, and these two are no exception. This shape is easy on the eye, and it somewhat balances out the straight lines of the space they sanitize. I mean, most rooms are either rectangular or square. In addition,  this clever design incorporates a 360-degree air inlet around the lower half of the air purifiers.

speaking of product design, did you know that the Core 300, a best seller at Amazon scooped the iF Design Award 2020 in Hamburg, Germany. Well, it’s not like the air purifier was declared the best ever built, but it got prestigious recognition as  an outstanding product design along with others.

Dimensions and Weight

These air cleaning devices have the exact same dimensions and weight. They measure just 8.7″ x 8.7″ x 14.2″ and weight just 9 pounds. As you can see, both airborne particles removers are small enough and you can easily tuck them into some small-ish space. And with a height of just 14.2 inches, they’re not one bit bulky. You can use them conveniently at home in the nursery, bedroom, family room, or in your office. Plus you can transfer each product to wherever else you might need it around the house since they’re (thankfully) super light.

Control Panel

Each of these two air purifiers has a clean, easy-tap control panel situated atop the unit. All the control features are set in a circle around the power button (On/Off  button). Here are the specific features the panel offers:

Fan speed indicators

Fan speed button

Sleep mode button

8-hour timer: 2,4,6, 8 hours

Power button (at the center)

Child-lock button

Check filter indicator

Display off button

*For the Core P350, the child-lock feature is referred to as the Pet Lock Button. And for the Core 300, the child-lock feature goes by a different name: the Display Lock Button. These buttons are indicated by different icons. A pet’s paw represents the Pet Lock Button while a locked padlock represents the Display lock button. More on the Pet Lock button/Display Lock button down the road.

Purification Coverage Area

Let’s now focus pay some attention to probably the most critical feature of any True HEPA air purifier — its air filtration efficiency. Each device offers a relatively large CFM/CADR. CFM means Cubic Feet per Minute while CADR abbreviates a metric known as Clean Air Delivery Rate.

Both machines offer the allergy sufferer a CFM of 135. Each unit would replace the air in your room with clean, crisp air 5 times every hour in a 200 square feet room whose ceiling is 8 feet above the floor. Levoit advertises these air cleaners as being able to offer a coverage of 219 square feet, though. But is 200 square feet really much different than 219 square feet. So, neither option outperforms the other as far as air filtration efficiency.

10 Features Similar to Both the Levoit Core 300 and Levoit Core P350

  1. Check Filter Indicator
  2. Auto shutoff Timer
  3. Child-lock Feature
  4. Preliminary filter\pre-filter
  5. True HEPA Filter
  6. Activated Carbon Filter
  7. 360-degree air inlet
  8. Both are ozone free air purifiers
  9. 3-stage filtration
  10. 1-year warranty

Let’s look a little more closely at the features.

Check Filter Indicator

The check filter indicator reminds the user to unscrew the filter cover at the bottom of the machine to check the filter’s condition. Typically, the indicator comes on after a preset duration of time, usually 6 months for most air cleaning devices that use replaceable/reusable/disposable filter(s).

Filter Replacement

With both units, filters last about 6 to 8 months. And that’s about as much longevity as anyone would get from the typical True HEPA air purifier. The filters aren’t the cheapest ever made, but you can buy them on the cheap on Amazon.

For the Levoit P350, search for the Levoit Core-P350-RF replacement filter. And for the Core 300, find the Levoit Core-300-RF. You can also use this ASIN number: B07RSZSYNC. These filters are available on Amazon as of this writing.

Here’s the thing about replacing the filters when the time comes: it’s a really easy job, anyone can do it in under 10 minutes. Simply take off the filter cap at the bottom of each purifier, plug in a new 3-in-1 True HEPA filter and put the cover back on. Be sure to turn off the unit before the process starts. Also, remember to reset the filter change indicator so the device can start counting from day 1 once again.

Auto Shutoff Timer

Having an easily programmable timer in a home air purifier is great. The feature gives you considerable control regarding how you manage your unit’s work shifts. With each choice, you get an auto shutoff timer that lets you select one of 4 intervals: 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, and 8 hours. I really love this feature, and it’s nice that all Levoit air purifiers come equipped with it.

You won’t worry that the thing will continue gobbling up your electricity even after it’s thoroughly cleaned the room. And that can end up saving you quite a few units of power — and cash, too.

However, this 8 hour timer isn’t the best deal you can get for the money. A growing number of air cleaning devices from various air purifier brands are now offering products with an up to 24-hour timer. But I suppose an 8-hour timer gives the average person about all the convenience they need.

Display Off Button

Dont want any of the illumination emanating from the control panel at night? No problem. Simply turn to the Display off button and envelope yourself with those cozy sheets that have you snoring away your day’s worries in no time.

Child-Lock Feature

If you have a playful kiddo or pup, chances are that they’re going to want to touch your air purifier from time to time. And sometimes, they’re going to touch the control panel, interfering with your settings. Enter the Display Lock button for the Core 300 or the Pet Lock feature for the P350 and you no longer need to worry about all that.

A Robust 3-Stage Filtration (True HEPA Air Filtration)

These two Levoit air purifiers, like most True HEPA air purifiers, pump out tons of 3-stage air filtration power. The filtration process is a 3-level process: purification at entry (at the fine prefilter), filtration at the main True HEPA filter, and finally, filtration at the activated carbon filter. I noticed Levoit refers to the main filter for the Core P350 as a True HEPA 3-stage pet Allergy Filter. But this is essentially a true HEPA filter, just like any other.

The preliminary filter (pre-filter) does quite a bit of the heavy lifting by taking out large-sized airborne particles including pet dander, pet hair, fibers, and more. And the True HEPA filter concentrates on bundling out (99.97%) airborne particles 0.3 microns or bigger.  Note that the HEP filter in each unit comes AHAM tested. That means an independent party has verified that the air purifiers have the ability to perform as advertised.

What about airborne particles smaller than 0.3 microns? I’m talking about PM2.5 particulate matter here, particles that have been found to be the most dangerous kind of indoor air pollution you could ever inhale.

Even though Levoit advertises these two devices as best at removing 0.3-micron particles or larger, they also take out PM2.5 particles that are tinier than 0.3 particles. My article on whether HEPA air purifiers eliminate PM2.5 particles explores this issue a little more comprehensively.

They Don’t Pump Out Ozone

No Levoit air purifier (as of this post) produces ozone (ever), and these two medium room to large room air cleaners are no exception. Now, who wants an ozone generator that flings gazillions of ozone molecules into the room? You want to know who? Well, it’s no one! And if you don’t breathe as effortlessly as everyone else, you NEVER want to use a device that pushes out contents that might contaminate your air instead of sanitizing it.

But things get even better. Both the Levoit Core 300 and Core P350 are CARB certified or Proposition 65 certified. That means they’re completely safe and won’t fill your room with potentially harmful ozone or other potentially damaging atoms.

Features the Core P350 vs Core 300 Lack

The Core 300 and its sibling the P350 are among Levoit’s better entry-level air cleaners. You, therefore, shouldn’t expect them to offer more than the absolute essentials. It’s hardly surprising that neither of these competing odor eliminators comes fitted with an auto mode, an air quality indicator. They also lack a PM2.5 counter, an extra only seen in the Levoit LV-H134.

Warranty

As noted elsewhere on this air purifier review site, Levoit air purifiers provide a 12-month warranty. But I feel that a 1-year warranty is too short considering that some brands such as Honeywell offers a 5-year warranty for a similar product, the Honeywell HPA200. And can you believe that Medify air purifiers actually stand behind their products for life with a lifetime warranty? But you shouldn’t worry too much as you can always extend the warranty by 12 months.

There’s also a money-back guarantee so you can buy with complete peace of mind. For the Core P350, the guarantee extends up to 90 days compared to just days for the Core 300. It seems like Levoit has a little more faith in the new-ish Core P350 than they do in its slightly cheaper sibling. If you like having months rather than a couple weeks to test a product’s efficacy, you’d better go with the Levoit Core P350.

Power Consumption

Neither the Core P350 or Core 300 draws too much power. Each needs not a watt more than your laptop requires to run smoothly (45W). With either of them, you’re looking at 197.1 kWh, assuming you run your device 12 hours a day throughout the year. So, neither air purifier is a better or worse option as far as energy efficiency.

Interesting though, the LV-H134 demonstrates a power rating of 45W even though this much larger and more powerful air cleaner moves  lot more air. Turns out the Core 300 and Core P350 aren’t as great energy savers as you’d like.

In the end, both the Core 300 and P350 consumes precisely the same amount of electric power and neither is the better choice in that particular aspect.

Noise Levels: The QuietKEAP Technology Helps a Lot

Are you looking for a bedroom air purifier that operates super quietly while nuking all those nasty air contaminants? Neither air purifier is too noisy, and you should have no problem using either in your bedroom.

The Core P350 operates pretty much silently on the lowest speed — 24 decibels on low mode. On the highest fan speed (fan speed 3 / High), this purifier cleans the air and doesn’t produce more than 50 dB. Most people would consider that noise level as a sleep-inducing white noise. It’s just the kind of noise you need if you value sleeping soundly every night. And no, you won’t need to invest in a white noise machine.

Just like its sibling the Core P350, the Core 300 does the job surprisingly quietly on low (24 dB) and a little more loudly on high (50dB). Both units are as the quietest most typical True HEP air purifier ever get, and I’ve hardly encountered complaints concerning either purifier’s noise levels.  These Levoits come armed with a one of a kind noise reduction hack that explains their extremely quiet operation — the QUIETKEAP Technology.

Certifications

The two True HEPA air purifiers offer a nice little bunch of critical certifications. Both are CARB certified as well as FCC and ETL certified. Evidently, they’re safe products that you’d use without worry. They’re also Energy Star rated, and that means neither allergy trigger solution consumes electric power voraciously. As far as certifications go, these devices have all the fundamental certifications the rational consumer would expect from an air cleaner.

Operating Conditions

Both purifiers can withstand really cool environments, as cold as -10 degrees Celsius or 14 degrees Fahrenheit. But you shouldn’t operate either of them in a space that’s too hot. The highest temperature either machine will tolerate is 40 degrees Celsius or 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Relative humidity is another consideration to keep in mind. The manufacturer recommends using these devices in an environment with a relative humidity of less than 85%. If RH were too high, what would happen? Mold would start sprouting on your air purifier, noticeably worsening your indoor air pollution situation.

Differences between the Levoit Core 300 Vs Core P350

Price

The Core P350 costs about $20 more than the Core 300. Do I think the price difference is justifiable? Well, well, well…not really, and I’ll explain that in a bit. But I believe these two products amount to a pretty decent level of usefulness (value) for the price.

What about replacement filters for the Core 300 and Core P350? Good news! Both replacement filters are affordable, costing between $35 and $36 as of this write up. I found that the Core P350-RF costs about a dollar more than the Core 300-RF. But do you really think a $1 price difference would actually translate into a significant product quality or performance difference? Me neither.

ARC Formula and VortexAir Technology

These two technologies supposedly increase the air filtration power of the Core P350. And Levoit would like us to believe that this air purifier demonstrates a significantly better performance than the Core 300. But wait, the only reliable way to measure air purification performance is by looking at each air purifier’s CADR or CFM.

Both Have the Same CFM, Right?

Right. Interestingly, the two air cleaning machines offer the same level of efficiency at a CFM of 135. With a CFM of 135, each of these units move 135 cubic feet of air every minute they’re chipping away at a room’s indoor air pollution. Now, that works out to 8,100 cubic feet per hour. If you run this machine in a 250 square room, the unit should return at least 4 Air Changes per hour (ACH).

If you have a hard time breathing , make sure to pick an air purifier with an ACH of at least 4. And these two options are a pretty good bet. Both devices are designed to clean medium-sized to large rooms, and I don’t see how you’d get more cleaning power by choosing one over the other.

The Core P350: the Ultimate Odor Removal Solution

That said, I should mention one small difference between the Levoit Core 300 and Core P350. The difference is that the latter includes an additional unique air cleaning technology called the Arc Formula.

This feature gives the Core P350 a little more advantage when it comes to removing odors. Thanks to this technology, the P350 shows a greater ability to break down odors into their constituents and that helps minimize secondhand air pollution.

Levoit Core Core 300 Vs Levoit Core P350: Verdict

What’s better between the Levoit Core 300 Vs Levoit Core P350? These two Levoit air purifiers are great entry-level True HEPA air purifiers. And both do the job, and do it quite well. As far as features go, neither boasts any significant advantage over the other. But thanks to the ARC formula, the Core P350 should have an easier time handling pet odors, cooking odors, cigarette smoke odors, and other kinds of bad smells.

If you have pets around and want to keep them even though they shed, go for the Levoit Core P350. It costs a little more, though. But it’s not like the cheaper Core 300 is a lame bystander when it comes to purifying a room.

If you want a budget option, get the Core 300 — it’s one of the best under $100 air purifiers I’ve ever reviewed. However, I’d not hesitate to pay the extra $20-ish to get the Core P350. While it offers more or less what the Core 300 does, it handles pet odors and allergies better in my experience. And the tons of research I devoured to write up this Levoit Core 300 vs Levoit Core P350 led me to conclude the P350 is the better allergen eliminator overall.
