Levoit Vista 200 Vs Levoit Core 300

Last Updated on

The Levoit Vista 200 and Levoit Core 300 are cute, compact Levoit air purifiers with a striking resemblance as far as shape and size. However, they differ quite a bit in performance ratings. Also, there’s a remarkable difference when it comes to the all-important matter of energy consumption.

Breathable Air — Everyone’s Inalienable Right

Every health-conscious person worries a bit about the presence of potentially deadly microscopic air pollutants in their rooms. And I guess that’s why you’re here — to get a sense of which option would supply your interiors with as much fresh air as you need to stay safe and healthy.

Here, I’m about shedding enough light on possible deals so you can easily decide what you like better. And in this head-to-dead Levoit Vista 200 vs Levoit Core 300 comparison, I’ll go all out to ensure you pick the superior bet.

Design

The Levoit vista 200 has a sleek, features-rich control panel sitting at its top side as does the Levoit Core 300 compact air purifier. Both designs have a robust motor that draws dirty, polluted air from the room and purify it before pouring tons of sanitized air back into the room via a 360-degree air outlet surrounding the control panel.

Ideally, these air cleaners, just like all air purifiers, should be positioned somewhere near the center of the room for maximal air filtration performance. But thanks to their 360-degree design, you can use either choice to clobber allergens and contaminants from some corner or even place them near a wall. If you have ample room, though, I’d still suggest that you stand your Vista 200 or Levoit Core 300 with enough clearance all around.

Dimensions and Weight

Both are small-ish, compact air cleaners that are also super light. The Core 300 measures 8.7″ x 8.7″ x 14.2″ and registers its weight as 8.75 lbs. The Vista 200 is a bit smaller, measuring 7.9″ x 7.9″ x 12.9″ while weighing just 4.94 lbs.

So, both are highly portable and compact, and are easily movable around the house. Their being compact makes them some of the best models ever made for small spaces.

Features Offered

There’s no difference between the features offered by each device’s control panel. The features form a circular arrangement around the panel’s center where the On/off button sits. The other features that appear in both units include:

  • Fan speed indicators and fan speed button
  • Sleep mode or night mode
  • Display off
  • Check filter indicator/filter change reminder
  • Timer button

The Levoit Vista 200 has an optional nightlight while the Core 300 doesn’t. And that’s about the only feature it has its larger room air cleaner doesn’t have. However, the Vista 200 lacks a child-lock while the Core 300 has it.

There’s one more thing. While both units come with a built-in auto shutoff timer, the timer options aren’t precisely equal. With the Core 300, you get 4 timer options (2,4,6,8 hours) while you only have 3 timer options with its contender, 2,4, and 8 hours. You get a little more flexibility with the Core 300, but I don’t think having 3 timer options would in any way be a deal-breaker.

Maximum Area Covered and CADR Ratings

The Levoit Core 300 works really hard, treating relatively large rooms with a maxim square footage of 215. Actually, LEVOIT says that the Core 300 is best suited for spaces smaller than 215 square feet. But then I used AHAM’s 2/3 rule backwards (by multiplying the Core 300’s CFM/CADR rating with 3/2). And I learned that the air cleaner is most suited for rooms with an area of close to 203 square feet.

In comparison, the maximum area it’s built to clean hovers around 161 square feet. Evidently, the Core 300 outshines its sibling the Vista 200 in the air purification coverage department. LEVOIT hasn’t provided any information on the Vista 200’s CADR, but applying AHAM’s rule tells me it should have a CFM of about 107. According AHAM’s 2/3 rule, your purifier’s CADR rating should equal roughly 2/3 of the recommended square footage. That is, 161 x 2/3 = 107, approximately

So, it’s a CFM of 107 for the Vista 200 vs a CFM/CADR rating of 135 for the Core 300. You clearly would get more with the larger, a-little-pricier option. By the way, both devices are AHAM certified, meaning they fully meet specific lofty air filtration standards.

Both Use the Same Basic True HEPA Filtration Mechanism

Both air cleaners have a 3-stage filtration mechanism to than for their cleaning ability. Each device arrives ready to defend you and your loved ones from all those ruthless germs and allergens occupying your home. A preliminary filter in both devices captures the largest airborne particles before the air reaches the awesomely mighty True HEPA filter.

The True HEPA (the main filter) performs almost all of the air filtration work the machine needs to do.  It filters out of your indoor air up to 99.97% of the air contaminants that threaten your health and well-being every day.

Once the HEPA filter is done filtering the air, the activated carbon filter takes over and removes VOCs and household odors including pet odors and cooking smells. Yes, the activated filter in each unit’s 3-stage filtration system turns the air purifier into a natural deodorizer, filling your rooms with gallons of super breathable air.

Customize Your Air Filtration Experience with the Core 300

So, the Core 300 and Vista 200 rely on the exact same basic filtration technology to cleanse your home. However, the Levoit Core 300 uses a customizable filter so you can solve different air quality problems at different times.

The Core 300 ships with a 3-in-1 ORIGINAL HEPA filter, a H13 medical-grade filter with the might to remove even 0.1 micron particles. Good news! You can always replace the Core 300 H13 True HEPA with one of LEVOIT’s 3 special-purpose filters. You can remove the original filter and use either the Pet Allergy filter or the Mold and Bacteria eating filter. Alternatively, you can swap the original filter out and insert the Toxin Absorber filter.

Different Filtration Media for Different Needs

Stressed out about pet dander and pollen in your bedroom, family room, or home office? Buy LEVOIT’s Pet Allergy filter. Type: Pet Allergy Filter Levoit Core 300 and buy this unique Core 300-RF replacement filter.

What if pesky air pollutants such as cigarette smoke, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and vehicle exhaust contents including benzene and formaldehyde are a constant worry? Order Toxin Absorber Filter from Amazon instead.

And what if you have musty air stemming from those pernicious mold colonies that have made your home their home? Or the gazillions of potentially harmful bacteria that intend to have you spend your money on massive but avoidable hospital bills? In that case, the Mold and Bacteria filter is the best fit for the job.

Look, the Core 300 offers a lot more versatility than its competitor the Vista 200 ever could. Note that these special replacement filters cost a little more than the usual Core 300-RF.

If you’re ok with changing filters from to time to address different contaminants in your home, buy the Levoit Core 300. But if you think swapping out filters all the time is too much of a hassle, the Vista 200 would be a better bet for you.

Night/Sleep Mode and LED Lights

Heavy sleepers like me can sleep without a care in the world even with an air purifier lighting up the whole place the entire night. But light sleepers need an air purifier that won’t produce the faintest light from its LED display, not even the soft glow the Vista 200 gives after the user dims the LED lights. The lights go dimmer automatically when the user turns on the machine’s night mode/sleep mode.

And that’s another area where the Core 300 wins. While you can ONLY lessen the display’s brightness with the Levoit Vista 200, you can switch the Core 300’s built-in LED lights entirely. I recommend the Core 300 for light sleepers, obviously, and the Vista 200 for everyone else.

Noise Levels

Pretty much all LEVOIT air purifying devices operate nearly silently on low. The Core 300 produces noise levels of 24 dB its slowest fan speed setting, and that’s barely audible. However, on fan speed 3 (High, the highest possible fan speed), the two germs and allergen destroyers make a noticeably loud noise, up to 50 dB for the Core 300.

In comparison, the noise level starts from 26 dB on low and increases up to 52 dB on fan speed III for the less powerful (interestingly) Vista 200. On the basis of noises alone, I’d gladly pick the Core 300.

Energy Consumption and Certifications

LEVOITS come with a whole array of important certifications, the kind of verifiable endorsements every decent air purifier should have. In this regard, both units enjoy the exact same certifications namely Proposition 65 certified/CARB, Energy Star rating, FCC, and ETL. No clear winner here, dear friend.

In terms of efficiency, the Vista is would save you more energy since it demands just 15W when running and just 0.5W while on standby mode. That’s one aspect of this comparison where the Vista 200 trumps the Core 300. The Core 300 consumes up to 45W while working and 0.8W while resting.

Air Purifier and Replacement Filter Cost

There’s about a $10 price difference between the Vista 200 and its larger, better-endowed sibling, the Core 300. But the difference seems more than accounted for by all the filtration might LEVOIT poured into this sturdier option.

As for filters, they have a general longevity of between 6 and 8 months. However, you may have to replace your Vista 200-RF or Core 300-RF somewhat earlier or later according to your home’s overall pollution count over a given period.

What about replacement filter cost? The Core 300 uses a slightly pricier replacement filter. The price difference is about $4 — not a huge difference, though. I feel paying $8 more per year for superior air filters is worth it.

Levoit Vista 200 Vs Levoit Core 300: Winner?

We’ve come to the end of our Levoit Core 300 vs Levoit Vista 200 head-to-head comparison. But, what’s the better deal here?

While the two models from Levoit are pretty much a cheap entry-level air purifier, the Levoit Core 300 amounts to a bit more value than the Levoit Vista 200. Both count on a robust 3-stage air filtration mechanism to purify the air but the Core 300 offers a little more versatility in that regard.

Buy the Vista 200 for small rooms to medium-sized ones and save about $10 in the process. Or pay a little more and have at your disposal enough raw purification power to clean large rooms, as large as 215 square feet. Plus, the Core 300 lets you turn off the display completely while the Levoit Vista simply lets you dim it.

For me, the Levoit Core 300 is the clear winner in this contest. Take your pick NOW and let’s obliterate those germs and air pollutants suffocating your bedroom, home office, or whichever other living area you wish to purify.
